Mayor Lee Launches FashionSF Economic Development Initiative
Posted on 15 November 2011
Thank you Mayor Lee for giving hope to Ceravelo and the Ascot!
At the end of October, Ed Lee – then City Administrator, launched a new economic development initiative called FashionSF. This four pronged program focuses on the retention and growth of apparel manufacturers and fashion designers. Needless to say, this is big news for Ceravelo and we look forward to following the implementation of this program and possibly benefiting from it.
I am hopeful that Mayor Lee and Supervisor Cohen’s efforts will be successful. Many of the points that were made in the article I can personally speak to, “San Francisco is home to an incredible fashion ecosystem of talented designers, expert sewers and top-notch production factories.” Literally every aspect of our business was home grown here in San Francisco. The talent pool is exceptional and I think it speaks volumes that the pieces we create at Ceravelo are worthy of consideration by the everyday consumer; as well as, big name fashion distributors e.g. Nordstrom. It doesn’t stop at sewing craftsmanship either. Thanks to Craigslist we have also connected with talented photographers and stylists from the Academy of Art, we’ve found cyclists to help with our eco-delivery service and of course there are the tech geeks who have helped support our IT initiatives. The list goes on. Ceravelo is truly a San Francisco business and we appreciate the efforts that our government officials are doing to recognize the talents and increase the potential for economic growth.
